SPA members only forum - PopForum


PopForum is a vehicle for email discussion of population related issues by members of SPA (only). Those who use this forum consent to the following terms:

1. Matters raised and discussed in this forum shall relate to the vision, mission and objectives of Sustainable Population Australia. These are:

    Vision: A relationship between humans and the natural environment which ensures the integrity and sustainability of the Earth’s life support systems, the on-going evolution of natural living systems and the well-being of every person in a sustainable population.

    Mission: To establish Australia as a global model of, and to assist other nations toward, a sustainable ecological life-support system, retention of species diversity and human wellbeing, by influencing public debate and policy with particular emphasis on population size.

    2.2: Objectives

    The Association exists to pursue the following objectives:

    2.2.1 To contribute to the public awareness of the limits of Australian population growth from ecological and social viewpoints.

    2.2.2 To promote awareness that the survival of an ecologically sustainable population depends in the long-term on its renewable resource base.

    2.2.3 To promote policies that will lead to the stabilisation, and then to reduction, of Australia's population by encouraging low fertility and low migration.

    2.2.4 To promote urban and rural life-styles and practices that are in harmony with the realities of the Australian environment, its resource base and its biodiversity.

    2.2.5 To advocate low immigration rates while rejecting any selection of immigrants based on race.

    2.2.6 To promote policies that will lead to stabilisation, and then to reduction, of global population.

2. Emails shall be courteous toward others, whether members of the forum or not, and not be abusive, defamatory or attack the personal integrity of others. Emails shall address 'the issue', and be impersonal.

3. Emails shall not discuss matters of governance of SPA.


Recommended Forum Etiquette

  • It is suggested that emails in reply contain only sufficient of the email being answered to make the context clear and
  • Where reference is made to a website the relevant text from the website together with the website address be given.
  • That congratulatory or personal messages, such as those following the publication of a good letter or article be sent to the person concerned and not posted to the Forum.

IMPORTANT: Complaints regarding failure to adhere to points 1 – 3 above shall be made to the Vice President. If the Vice President considers that the complaint has merit s(he) will confer with the President. A decision may be made to warn the member that his/her membership of PopForum may be revoked or the membership may be revoked.

SPA members only forum - "SPAConGov"


SPAConGov is an email forum open to members of SPA for the suggestion of changes to the Constitution of SPA and for discussion of suggested changes to the Constitution of SPA. Those who use this forum consent to the following terms:

1. Matters raised on this forum shall relate to changes to the Constitution of SPA. The Constitution can be read on the SPA website at: www.population.org.au

2. Emails shall be courteous toward others, whether members of the forum or not, and not be abusive, defamatory or attack the personal integrity of others. Emails shall address 'the issue', and be impersonal.
