Aerial photos of Melbourne’s growth, 2018

The SPA VicTas Branch reflects on the one year anniversary since we took to the sky to photograph Melbourne’s urban sprawl from above.One of our branch members is a private pilot and offered to take up a professional photographer up in his plane. As the plane journeyed through Melbourne’s northern suburbs through the wheatbelt to Kerrang and back,  Tanya Fry (photographer) observed endless urban sprawl around Melbourne followed by equally endless cleared land accross the state of Victoria.  The scale of human impact, seen from up in the air, was staggering and sobering reminder as our Australian leaders attempt to double the State’s population in under 30 years.Below are some of the highlights from the project:
